That said, it's not industry standard and can vary from developer to developer, and from game to game. So, is Roblox cross platform? Let's delve into that further, as it's not a straightforward answer.

Is Roblox Cross-Platform?
The good news straight out of the gate when it comes to Roblox is that it is absolutely cross-platform, although there are a few caveats to that which we'll go through shortly. But Roblox is designed so that you can play on your PC, and then when you leave the house you can play the game on your mobile, before returning home in the evening to play on your Xbox. It's not available on every platform officially, yet, but there are ways around that. The mantra behind Roblox is that you have one profile, for all platforms, and you can easily jump back into the action no matter where you are or what devices you have with you.
1. Xbox One
Let's kick things off with the Xbox version of Roblox, as it's not the traditional version that you'll play on PC. The Xbox version of Roblox is a scaled down affair, allowing you to play the games with other platforms (thanks to a recent update) and that's it, really. That said, just because it's a different version with different options doesn't actually mean you need a different account to play it. Simply, when booting up the app for the first time, login to your Roblox profile on the main screen. That way you can take your progress from PC to Xbox, and vice versa.
2. PC
The PC version of Roblox is the true version of the game, with the whole suite of tools and apps, whether you're into creation or just wading around the thousands of games it offers. The PC version can play with any other version and is the truest most complete version of the game that exists to date.
3. Mobile
Like the PC version, the mobile version of Roblox is up there with the most complete of the Roblox versions - it's the same as the PC, but obviously more finnicky when it comes to controls as you're on a phone. Like the PC version, because it's a profile based system that works across multiple devices and platforms, mobile device players can play with anyone on other platforms.
4. PS4
Currently Roblox is not available on the PS4 or the PS5, but a recent job listing suggests that it's heading that way. That said, as Roblox can be launched in a browser, there's no reason you can't boot up the web browser and login that way. However, as the games do require Windows or Mac OS to run, it means you can't play games, but you can still chat to friends and buy stuff and so on. That means that PS4 and Xbox One users can't play together. Sorry.
5. Switch
Like the PlayStation platforms, Roblox is currently not on the Nintendo Switch either. And again, like on the PlayStation, you can however access your account and profile through the web browser too though - just not play games, yet. In May 2021 though, the CEO said Roblox on PlayStation and Switch make sense, so look out for a dedicated app for it in the future.
How To Play Crossplay in Roblox
I know what you're thinking. Well, surely you login and just play it with friends, but honestly, it's not that straightforward - especially Xbox - so here's how you play crossplay on Roblox.
1. Xbox One
Playing with friends or even adding new friends on Xbox is a bit of a pain. It's not like the PC version where you just use the search bar to find their profile name and then add them. There's no search functionality in the Xbox version. So, how do you add friends on Xbox version of Roblox?
Well, if you want to add friends you can either: a.) join the same game session as them (by entering a game at the same time) and then clicking add friend on their profile; or b.) go to a PC or use your smartphone, and then going to Roblox.com in your browser, login and search for their username and then send them a friend request. Once they've accepted you'll see them under the friends profile tab in-game. That said, we do however hope they add in the search feature functionality to Xbox at some point as it'll vastly improve the user experience.
As a quick aside, if youdon't want to play cross-platform and just want to play with other Xbox console players, you can turn off crossplay in the settings (press X).
2. PC
As we said previously, seeing as the PC is effectively the main version of Roblox, cross-platform functionality is built into the system, so all you need to do to play cross-platform on the PC is just play the game. Login to your Roblox account and then you'll come across anyone and everyone on all the other platforms (unless they have cross-platform turned off). To add friends, just search for their profile name in the search box and away you go!
3. Mobile
Because the PC version is the same as the mobile version, there's no real difference here, it works the same as PC. You login as normal, search for your friend's name and then either add them, invite them, whatever. Up to you. The thing is it doesn't matter, again, what platform they're on, as Roblox is built about the one profile, user-based system.
4. PS4
Well, seeing as the PS4 and PS5 web browser version doesn't let you play games, it's technically not cross-platform. You can chat with them and message them though.
5. Switch
Once again, same the the PlayStation versions here: yes, you can use the browser stuff to access your Roblox account, but you can't play with them until there's a dedicated app, and that doesn't exist yet.
