The Novena to Our Lady Queen of Peace – The title of “Queen of Peace” is given to Mary because she is the mother of Jesus, the “Prince of Peace”, who reconciled Heaven and Earth. Mary stood at the foot of the cross, where Christ merited peace for the whole world. She is our intercessor with her Son to obtain the spirit of love, unity and reconciliation. In 1917 Pope Benedict XV added the advocation “Queen of Peace” to the Litany of Loreto (Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary). The Queen of Peace is often depicted with the Child Jesus sitting on her lap in one hand and holding an olive branch in the other.
