From tense dramas to lol-worthy comedies about the highs and lows of high school, these shows will have you hooked. Some are miniseries you could totally binge in a weekend, while others have plenty of seasons that will keep you entertained for weeks at a time. And um, some are especially good for having on in the background while you and your partner enjoy other ~activities~.
So instead of putting on a show you’ve definitely already seen a million times (The Office is funny, but c’mon), try one of these binge-worthy shows you can stream on Netflix rn.
1. New Girl
You probably don't need another reminder that a New Girl watch is a good idea, but here's your friendly reminder that one of the greatest sitcoms is available on Netflix. No matter how many times you watch, you'll discover something new. Plus, if you and your boo are looking for a podcast to listen to together, you can also listen to Welcome to Our Show hosted by three of the show's stars as they break down each episode with some fun guests.
2. Lucifer
The FOX/Netflix series came back from the dead twice and there's a very good reason for that. After the devil himself decides to leave Hell and become a consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department. But things quickly take a turn when his brother comes to take him back to the underworld before all hell breaks loose. Ya know? Just normal devil things.
3. The Big Flower Fight
Let's be honest here, there's nothing better than when your significant other gives you a surprise bouquet of flowers. But what if they gave you a giant sculpture made of flowers? That's just what these talented florists and artists have to make in this fun competition that gives you all the Bake Off feels.
4. Murderville
If you want to put your detective caps on and try to solve a case, then this might be the show for you. But this isn't like any other crime show on TV. Murderville inserts our favorite celebs into a murder mystery led by Will Arnett which then turns into the most chaotic masterclass of improv you'll see on TV. But at the end of the day, they'll still have to crack the case. Will they be right? You're gonna have to tune in to find out!
5. Sense8
This is a must-watch for sci-fi fans especially since it comes from the Wachowskis, the creators of The Matrix. Sense8 follows a group of eight strangers who all share the same birthday. They find out that they are mentally linked with each other and it causes for some very interesting situations.
6. Outlander
There's a reason why Outlander fans are some of the most passionate fans out there. This fiery series follows military nurse Claire Randall as she is mysteriously transported back in time and falls in love with a Highland warrior.
7. Arcane
Even if you've never played League of Legends, you're still going to be absolutely obsessed with Arcane. The show follows sisters Vi and Jinx as they take part in the war that pits the rich and powerful citizens of Piltover versus anyone who stands in their way.
8. Good Girls
While this show was unfortunately canceled before we got an official ending, that doesn't mean you still can't jump in and enjoy it. Three moms and BFFs come together to rob a grocery store after they are all in need of some extra cash. But after getting a taste of the criminal life, they start to dig deeper and deeper into a money-laundering scheme.
9. Song Exploder
This Netflix docuseries gives you a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create the next big hit. From Dua Lipa's "Love Again" to "Wait for It" from Hamilton, the series breaks down all the ideas, music skills, and even special inspiration that it took to make a song happen. You never know, you might learn something new about your favorite jam.
10. Floor is Lava
The name alone should give you a really big clue as to what this game show is about, but just in case you didn't get to play this in your childhood, groups battle it out in an obstacle course where they have to try to make it to a safe side or risk being pulled in by the lava. It might even inspire you to start a round or two after watching.
11. Get Organized with The Home Edit
If you are your partner are already living together or plan to do so in the near future, then you might want to tune into Get Organized with The Home Edit to get some really good organization inspo. It's kind of like a giant restocking video that you see on TikTok, but with all your favorite celebs.
12. Gilmore Girls
Let's be honest here, Stars Hollow is the perfect little town that you'd want to head to for the weekend. But while we might not be able to visit right this second, that doesn't mean you can't tune in to Gilmore Girls to feel like you're right there.
13. Community
This beloved comedy series has been a pop culture staple since the beginning and there's a big reason for that. While you might not be watching it for the plot, you won't be able to stop yourself from falling in love with these group of misfits as they try to graduate from Glendale Community College and try to survive paintball wars, the darkest timeline, and a feud against a neighboring community college.
14. American Vandal
Thanks to having the perfect balance of comedy and true crime, American Vandal is one of those must-watch shows that you might have missed when it originally came out. Still, it's never too late to dive in and watch the show that had the entire world asking "who drew the dicks?"
15. Is It Cake?
Remember when the whole world was freaking out over those hyperrealistic cakes all over TikTok? Well, Netflix decided to take it one step further and got a bunch of bakers together to fool us once again with this special baking competition. There really is a TV show for everything nowadays.
16. Inventing Anna
Netflix's latest show from Shonda Rhimes is based on the real-life story of Anna Delvey, a scheming socialite who scammed hotels, banks, and rich people out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. It bounces between present-day and the past, as a reporter (based on real-life reporter and show producer Jessica Pressler) pieces together the real Anna Delvey story for her magazine piece. The show is “completely true, except for the parts that are totally made up,” so expect a truly wild ride and lots of Googling while you watch.
17. The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window
This dark comedy/psychological thriller is so so good. It stars Kristen Bell as Anna, a heartbroken woman mourning her daughter's death and self-medicating with bottles of wine and prescription pills. One night, as she's looking out her window, she witnesses a murder—or so she thinks. The police and her neighbors believe she's crazy, but Anna decides to take matters into her own hands and investigate what's happening. There's only one season available to stream right now, but Kristen Bell has definitely hinted at a second season.
18. Too Hot to Handle
Look, sometimes you and your boo just wanna watch a bunch of hot, horny people in swimwear trying (and often failing) to avoid giving into their sexual impulses so that they can win thousands of dollars. Don’t overthink it.
19. Queer Eye
Ummm, is it just me who inevitably cries at every episode of this? No? Cool. The “Fab Five” help people upgrade basically every aspect of their life: their appearance, their wardrobe, their home, and their relationship with themselves. It’s super inspiring and a very comforting watch. Luckily, there are six seasons on Netflix, so you’ve got plenty of episodes to binge.
20. Sex/Life
Billie seems to have it all: a handsome husband, cute kids, a nice house in the suburbs. But she finds that she can’t stop thinking about her gorgeous, successful ex-boyfriend and all the very hot and exciting sex they once had. Tbh, you and your partner probably won’t make it through an episode before tearing each other’s clothes off. Like, I seriously don’t know how anyone could watch this show and not get horny.
21. You
Hello, you. This binge-worthy show follows Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley), an obsessive young man who will do whatever it takes to spark up a romance with the object of his affections. When we say “whatever it takes,” we’re talking about everything from stalking to murder to holding people hostage in a glass cage. You know, the usual stuff you do when you like someone.
22. Ozark
If you liked Julia Garner in Inventing Anna, you’ll probably want to watch this show about a man who moves his family from Chicago to the Ozarks after a money-laundering scheme gone wrong. His plan is to set up a bigger laundering scheme in Missouri, but it doesn’t take long for their family to become entangled with other local criminals.
23. Never Have I Ever
For something a little lighter, this coming-of-age comedy created by Mindy Kaling is the perfect thing to binge with your boo. It follows Devi Vishwakumar, a high school student figuring out romance, sex, her Indian-American identity, grief, college, and all the other fun aspects of high school.
24. Shameless
This show has 11 seasons on Netflix, so there’s plenty for you and your partner to binge-watch. It follows a super dysfunctional family living in Chicago, complete with a drunk, unreliable father and put-upon eldest daughter who’s raising her five younger siblings.
25. The Umbrella Academy
This series based on comics and graphic novels by My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way is definitely worth watching. One fateful day in 1989, 43 infants are suddenly born to unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. A billionaire adopts seven of them, and trains them to save the world. The group disbanded when they were teenagers, but they have come back together after the eccentric billionaire’s mysterious death.
26. Survivor
Because what's more romantic than talking about what your Survivor strategy would be? Netflix appears to only have two seasons of the show available right now, but you can find it on other streaming platforms if you get really into it.
27. Bridgerton
If you haven’t watched Bridgerton yet, dear readers, get thee to your television posthaste. The period drama about debutantes finding love has the costumes of Pride and Prejudice, the drama of Gossip Girl, and the steaminess of 50 Shades of Gray. Bless you, Shonda Rhimes. Bless you.
28. Indian Matchmaking
This docuseries offers an in-depth look at the arranged marriage process. You’ll get immediately invested in the lives of Nadia, Aparna, Pradhyuman, Akshay, Vyasar, and Ankita—not to mention Sima, the matchmaker who tries to help them all find The One. Whether you already know a lot or a little about the custom, it’ll make you reflect on your own relationship and values in a new light.
29. The Queen's Gambit
If a few months ago you told us one of the best Netflix shows of all time would be about *checks notes* chess, we wouldn’t have believed you. But chess is cool, y’all. If you still haven’t watched this drama about a young woman with a gift for the game and her rise to stardom in the world of competitive chess, you’re seriously missing out. It’s about more than just the game; it’s about ambition, addiction, and perseverance, too.
30. The Movies That Made Us
Did you know that most of Home Alone was filmed in a high school gymnasium? Or that Ghostbusters started filming before they had clearance to use the term Ghostbusters? The Movies That Made Us is a docuseries that tells the true stories—and struggles—behind some of your favorite blockbusters. We highly suggest watching one of the movies, then throwing the corresponding episode on after.
31. Kim's Convenience
We always need a funny feel-good show in rotation, and Kim’s Convenience fits the bill perfectly. It’s about a Korean-Canadian family of four that runs a convenience store in Toronto. It perfectly captures all the little day-to-day moments of family life, and you’ll relate so hard. Best of all, there are four seasons for your viewing pleasure on Netflix.
32. #blackAF
Kenya Barris is the mind behind some of your favorite TV shows (he created Black-ish and wrote for Girlfriends, among other things) and movies (hi, Girls Trip). #BlackAF is his best project yet. Barris plays a fictionalized version of himself, queen Rashida Jones plays his wife, and together, they offer a funny, touching, and fresh twist on the classic family sitcom.
33. The Last Dance
Even if you’re not a sports person, you’ll be totally captivated by this 10-part docuseries. It follows Michael Jordan’s life, career, and the road to his sixth NBA championship with the Chicago Bulls. It might even inspire you to get into basketball.
34. Stranger Things
This series has got everything: supernatural powers, a creepy government lab, dark secrets, awesome '80s style, and a group of way cute, way lovable kids. After Will Byers goes missing from from his Indiana town and a young telekinetic girl shows up, his friends, family, and the local police search for answers, but quickly find themselves in the midst of a top-secret government experiment. (BTW, if you haven't already watched this show at least once...what are you doing with your life?!)
35. Love Is Blind
If you're looking for something that'll immediately make you feel better about your own relationship, This. Is. It. This reality show is based on the premise that single people will speak to, develop relationships with, and get engaged (!!!) to each other without *ever* meeting face-to-face. It's as entertaining as it is WTF-worthy.
36. Schitt's Creek
The suddenly broke (but formerly loaded) Rose family finds themselves having to take up residence in the, shall we say, quirky Schitt's Creek—a town they once purchased as a joke. You'll be LOLing watching Johnny, Moira, and their two adult children, David and Alexis, try to navigate life without money.
37. Tiger King
If you haven't seen all the Tiger King memes, where have you been!? This show is full of truly wild twists and turns. It follows roadside zoo owner Joseph Maldonado-Passage (aka Joe Exotic) and his sworn enemy, the sanctuary owner Carole Baskin. There are animal rights issues, creepy cult-like relationships, wildly unsafe working conditions, an unhinged presidential campaign, and a possible murder. Need I say more?!
38. Mindhunter
If Criminal Minds was your jam back in the day, you'll love, love, LOVE Mindhunter. It tells the (mostly) true story of how the FBI developed its serial killer profiling technique by interviewing some of the country's most infamous killers, from Ed Kemper to Charles Manson. The casting in this show is so eerily spot-on that you'll feel like you're watching the actual OG interviews with the killers.
39. The Crown
Newlywed 25-year-old Queen Elizabeth has a lot going on, like, you know, taking over the most famous monarchy in the world. This series delves into all the drama the royal family has dealt with over the years—and trust, there's plenty of it—that you probably have never even heard about.
40. Breaking Bad
When high school chemistry teacher Walter White develops stage 3 lung cancer, he and his former student Jesse Pinkman start cooking and selling crystal meth to make sure his family is set up financially once he dies. It's five straight seasons of non-stop drama, suspense, and a little humor that's honestly a must-watch for any couple.
41. Big Mouth
Adult cartoons might not usually be for everyone, but this show totally is. You've got Nick Kroll and John Mulaney playing pubescent boy who are hilariously tryna figure out their bodies and stuff, while a sassy hormone monstress (Maya Rudolph) intrudes on the pre-teens' lives. What more could you want?
42. Cheer
If you're dating someone who doesn't think cheerleading is a "real" sport, they'll promptly change their minds after streaming Cheer. The Navarro cheer team is one of the best college teams in the country, and they take their sport seriously, enduring intense practices, pushing through painful injuries, and abiding by their coach's strict rules. If nothing else, you'll fall in love with Jerry's infectiously positive "mat talk."
43. Great British Baking Show
If you want something light, wholesome, and uplifting for a change, there's nothing better than the Great British Baking Show. Watch all of the aspiring bakers try their hardest to nail each of the competitions as you lazily eat store-bought cookies from the comfort of your couch. Side note: there are seven seasons available to stream on Netflix, so you won't get through it too quickly.
44. The Staircase
After Michael Peterson's wife mysteriously dies, he claims she fell down the stairs and hit her head. But some investigators think Michael might have been responsible. So what actually happened? That's for you and your boo to decide.
45. Dead to Me
Recently widowed Jen is trying to come to terms with the death of her husband—he was killed by a hit-and-run driver—by attending a group therapy session, where she meets Judy. Judy is there grieving for her fiancé, who died of a heart attack, but she also has a deep dark secret that could change everything. (Dun dun dunnnn.)
46. The Sinner
Each season follows Detective Harry Ambrose as he investigates a different case. In season 1, Ambrose looks into the past of a very troubled woman (Jessica Biel) to figure out WTF made her stab a man to death at the beach. In the second season, he heads to his hometown after a young boy confesses to poisoning a couple, and he starts to learn about the secrets the townies are trying to keep buried.
47. The Stranger
Imagine a complete stranger coming up to you and telling you that your wife has maintained a massive lie (I'm talking M-A-S-S-I-V-E lie) for years—and then finding out that she's disappeared. Then you learn that you're not the only person who this same stranger has visited with a crazy revelation. Well, that's exactly what happens to Adam Price. With mystery, thrills, and British accents, The Stranger really has it all.
48. The Good Place
What do you get when you mix Kristen Bell with Ted Danson? The greatest! show! ever! When Eleanor Shellstop wakes up in the afterlife, she's in the utopia-esque "Good Place." There's just one itty bitty problem...she was definitely sent there by mistake.
49. The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez
Another quick fix for the true-crime junkie couples out there, this docuseries investigates the horrifying death of an 8-year-old California boy who suffered unspeakable abuse from his mother and her boyfriend, and looks at the broken systems that failed to save him. Basically, it's one of those too-horrifying-to-look-away binges.
50. Riverdale
Archie-comics-meet-murder-mystery in this adaptation that gets weirder and weirder with every new season. If you can really suspend your sense of reality, this is definitely going to be your shared guilty pleasure watch.
51. The Witcher
If Game of Thrones used to be your show, you'll definitely love The Witcher since it's got a very similar vibe. It follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a lone monster hunter who's trying to find his place in a world where the people are often more evil than the beasts he hunts.
52. Black Mirror
A miniseries that explores the incredibly dark and effed-up influence that technology could have on modern life. That might not sound immediately intriguing to you, but the production quality is so high and the plots are so inventive that you won't be able to look away. If you two want something to discuss for hours, this is a show that'll spark loads of discussion and debate.
53. Orange Is the New Black
If you want to feel better about the state of your relationship, all you need is a quick dose of Piper and Larry's dysfunctional coupling. Seriously, three episodes in and I was giving my boyfriend a massage and thanking him for not being in prison.
54. Arrow
If one of you really wants to watch something superhero-y and one of you wants some romance and lovey dovey-ness, Arrow is for you. It's fast-paced, kind of goofy, sweet, and filled with kick-ass hijinks. Best of both worlds.
55. Girlfriends
One of Mara Brock Akil's earliest works, Girlfriends follows four Black women navigating love, life, friendship and career in the early 2000s. So many good topics are explored in this show, the fashion is top-tier, and it is truly hysterical—you and bae will only be feigning for more. Plus, watching eight seasons of an early millennium Tracee Ellis Ross ain't too bad either.
56. The Circle
Come for the "social media competition," stay for the catfish and contestants who have S.O.s that permitted temporary cheating to win $100,000. Do what you gotta do, right?
57. Colin in Black and White
Dig deep into the early years of NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's life. Colin narrates the story and appears in the series. Expect a coming-of-age tale laced with romance, strife, race and culture.
58. Pretty Smart
Emily Osment stars in this new comedy about a braniac from the East Coast who moves in with her younger, happy-go-lucky sister and three whacky roommates in Los Angeles after a break up. You and bae will breeze through the 10 episodes and be cackling and gasping all the way through by the characters antics. Expect a few warm and fuzzies too though because their take on friendship is seriously what we all need right now. And if none of that doesn't convince you and bae to tune in, this will: Jake from State Farm, aka Kevin Miles, has a recurring role as one of the roomie's love interest.
59. The Chair
STREAM NOW
Anything with Sanda Oh is a must watch at this point, so what are y'all waiting on? Sandra stars as the main character who is the first women of color to become a department chair at a major university—a department that is in utter chaos and turmoil at the moment, no less. In just six episodes, not only do you get top-tier acting (bc duh), but love, support and career are just some of the themes explored in this show.
60. Lupin
Honestly the first 30 seconds of Lupin's trailer is enough to make you wanna turn it on right TF now—and there's two whole seasons, so it's easy to deep dive and commit to this show for a good while. The main character is a "gentleman burglar" on a journey to avenge his father's murder. Expect a good heist, mystery and lots of action.
61. Clickbait
After a man gets kidnapped and goes missing, online videos of him start popping up and bringing into question everything his family thought they knew about him. There's so much mystery to uncover. Good thing the eight episodes range from 40 to 52 minutes.
62. Manifest
This show started out as an NBC property until the network cancelled it after the third season. Naturally, Netflix scooped it right up where it became a phenomenon among viewers. The plot? A plane goes missing for five and a half years and then suddenly reappears with everyone on board—the passengers are alive and healthy, and for them, it feels like only a few hours have passed. The passengers come to soon learn they are "all connected" in a mysterious way. With three seasons locked in already—with a fourth confirmed—you will seriously not want to turn this show off until you've watched every single second in one sitting.
