THE KANSAS. CITY STAR, MONDAY, JULY 2, 1951. 17 WARREN AIMS AT HUNT PUBLIC DEBATE OFFERED SENATOR BY GOVERNOR OF FLORIDA. Wyoming Democrat Would Be Asked Why He Cut Short Crime Probe Session in Tampa. Tallahassee, July 2.

(AP)) -Gov. Fuller Warren of Florida says he would like to know why Senator Hunt (D-Wyo.) suddenly ended a U. S. Senate crime committee hearing in Tampa last December with several nesses still waiting to be heard. That is one of the questions he said he would ask Hunt if the senator will meet him in a public debate in Miami's Bayfront park Saturday night.

This His Fourth Bid. Hunt is the fourth member of the crime committee Warren has offered to debate since senators issued a subpoena calling him to Washington to testify as a witness before them a week from today. Challenges to Senators O'Conor Kefauver (D. Tenn. and Tobey (R-N.

were turned down. Warren so far hasn't mentioned the fifth committee memSenator Wiley As he did in his challenges to the others, Warren said he would like to ask Hunt why gambling was permitted to operate wide open in his home state. Wide Open in Wyoming. He said that last August slot machines, dice tables and roulette were operating openly in a Jackson, bar, that slot machines were running in a Casper, drug store and in restaurants, filling stations and bars in "numerous Wyoming Hunt was the only member of the committee at, the Tampa hearings. After two days of testimony, and with Rex Farrier, state attorney, and J.

L. Eddings, former Tampa police chief, waiting under subpoena to testify, he adjourned the hearing. Farrier, who protested Hunt's adjournment of the hearing without taking his testimony, later went to Washington testified. Eddings was invited to appear there, too, but he didn't go.
